Welcome to Dead Beef Cafe where I, and probably others, will be writing and talking about random bits of computer security, computer security philosophy, geeky stuff, and food. An unlikely combination, but there you have it.
The name came about as I was looking for fun things that work as a valid hardware address. There's quite a few considering the amount of the alphabet available for creating words. badbadbadbad was what I had been thinking of making my laptop claim as its hardware address, but then I did a little work ( egrep '^[abcdef]{1,12}$' /usr/share/dict/words ) gives us a very amusing word list, some of which I hesitate to consider words out of any normal dictionary. Once I had a noticed deadbeefcafe worked, I felt compelled to do this.
